In May, there have been secret meetings right here in Philadelphia, speaking of change in the constitution. We have just found out yesterday of these meetings and there is a split with the people, are we okay with these changes? Or are we angry that they have held these in secret wanting to change our government? They have been discussing ways to improve our government and have come up with many ways to revise it. Many well known people that have been apart of these meetings are George Washington, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. They did not want anyone knowing that these meetings were going to be held, considering the backlash from some of the people that would not like this. They have also came up with the Three-Fifths Compromise, this is saying that all the slave states can count their slaves for their population. ⅗ of the slavery population in their state will be counted for, you may think that this will be giving the slaves rights, it doesn’t. They do not get any rights and are continued to be treated how they were. They have also promised not to mess with and take away slavery for twenty years. Perhaps the biggest thing that they discussed was Interstate Commerce, the government is able to regulate business and trade between foreign nations and the states. Other compromises that they have come up with is the four year term limit for the president. This means that each president that is elected will only be allowed to be there for four years and then the people will have to elect someone new. There is now an electoral college rather than a direct election for the president.
