This movie is perceived to be in a rural part of Texas from the 1960s. This movie touches on every aspect of growing up and growing old, as well as, addressing the right and wrong way to live. Caine and Duvall carried themselves very well in this movie. They played well off each other in order to bring out the comedy. Osment, being the main leader, played a major role showing his emotions with his great uncles, the lion, and his mother. The downfall in this movie were scenes of all the sword fights. The fights from the sounds of the swords as well as the battles were not the most realistic part of the movie, but kept us viewers engaged. The sets and props seemed realistic. The lighting and wardrobe were appropriate for the emotional state of all the men. The music was a great way of setting the mood of the scenes. This is one of the most symbolic movies of all time. This movie has a mother who consistently makes broken promises to pursue the needs of her own. While the great uncles play heroes in his life. Taureg plays a metaphoric role in this movie. The lion is perceived as useless and old while nurturing the life of a young boy. It also poses as a symbol of all the tales told by Caine from their foreign adventures. This movie ended with a sad twist from his great uncles
