However, in the movie Secondhand Lions, Hub does not show a decrease in physical strength, despite his age. After purchasing the lion, Hub and Garth decide to buy some lion chow to feed her. When they get to the store the manager tells them he will have to get someone to load the bags for them but, to the dismay of the manager, Hub begins to load the bags himself. The manger tells Garth he’s never seen anything like Hub, and that each bag weighs close to 50 lbs. After loading all the bags into the truck, Hub faints and is rushed to the hospital where he promptly decides to check himself out. After the hospital, the trio heads to the local saloon to eat. When they arrive there a few teenagers begin hassling them, Hub decides to take matters into his own hands and fights all five of them.
