draw pictures around it for whatever was going on that week. I only got it one time; spelling was never really a strong suit for me not until much, much later. Second grade was back with Mrs. Crawford again. This was another excellent year because she was the teacher that got to teach us phonics, yes we waited until second grade to really delve into the world of phonics rather than kindergarten like the do now. Also, second grade is where we really started getting science and social studies for the first time. Back then we only had reading, math, spelling, and other little activities during kindergarten and first grade something that I truly believe would be beneficial to go back to because now the children aren’t getting a foundation and I can speak to this from experience having a 9 year hold …show more content…
Third grade was a fun year for me. My teacher was Mrs. Kometic she introduced me to one of my favorite book series “My Teacher is an Alien”. Also, she was the teacher that taught us multiplication and division. Multiplication was super easy for me I literally breezed right through it. However, once we finished multiplication up to our twelve’s we moved on to division and that was a beast that took quite a lot of effort to slay. I just could not seem to grasp the concept of just doing the opposite. Fourth grade was a very miserable year for me. I still remember the first day of school and Mr. Storr the teacher stood up and told us a bald faced lie that he would not have any favorites that he did not believe in favorites. It was less than two weeks in and he had a favorite and she could do nothing wrong at all. Some good came out of this year; I started to make connections with my understanding of spelling and spelling rules. We studied Florida History which was very interesting. We had a cultural week and I remember we got to learn a little Swahili, not that I remember any sadly. Also, we got to tie-dye a shirt and that was fun. The last grade of

My favorite part about this class was the, Who am I websites. I enjoyed listening and learning about everybody's life. We have way too much in common our foods, music, lifestyles, families, friends religious, career goals, and etc. Although, I still believe a couple of students didn’t receive the unity messages. Learning about socioeconomic status, race, religion, and cultures were all significant.…

Seventh grade, my second year now at what I thought to be the worst school in the world. On back to school night I met a man who would change my perspective on life completely, that man being Brandon Lilly. Henry Adams once said “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” At a mere five-foot four he appeared to be a kid minus the burly lumberjack beard that he possessed. I remember being skeptical at first because I had never had a male teacher before.…

This was the year that allowed to discover that although I wanted to pull my hair out maybe a good 100 times, my class taught me that there is no better thing in life than making others happy and having the ability to surround yourself with those smiles. I realized that even by the smallest role, I can make a difference, and I knew that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. This experience shaped out what I wanted out of life--…

A couple years ago when I was in 1st grade I started at a new school in Pasadena, California. The school was called Garvanza elementary. I liked living in California and having new friends at this school, but about half the school year my mother wanted to move to Arizona with my brother, sister and I. We didn't want to leave, but my mother said that she already got a house and a job over there. Even after we kept telling her that we didn't want to leave she made us pack everything and put it in the truck.…

This is a non-traditional high school and based on the population and my experience during the fall semester I still think that there is a lot to do here for this particular population (about their age, legal and social status). Everybody seemed very committed to work hard to support these students. It is true that regarding working with them in regular sessions is a challenge for the counselor. I feel it is difficult to work directly with students as probably I could have worked in a traditional school. I am really interested in working with this population and I also feel that if someone wants to learn and understand the immigrant population in other schools in this area and other areas this is a great place to learn.…

"Are teeth supposed to be backwards?" I hated 4th grade out of all the grades 1-5. I already don't like school as a whole (no offense to you) but if there was a least favorite, I'd be fourth. The classes were boring and I had gotten sick of the building. It got worse as I went up a grade also because some of my favorite teachers would retire right when I left them, leaving the spot open for a horribly mean one.…
