Second Field Observation

General Observation: This week marked my third week in Mrs. C’s 4th grade classroom at St. Rose. During their scheduled reading time, I taught my first observed lesson of three required for my second field placement. This was not my first time teaching a lesson in Mrs. C’s class, as I have been afforded the opportunity each time I am in the classroom to lead a lesson in some way. Sequencing of events was the target skill I pulled from the story, The Right Dog for the Job. The students were familiar with the story. In the past, I have taught adjectives and adverbs. After my lesson, I continued with my usually routine of informally assessing the students during Mrs. C’s instructional time, grading, and gathering resources for my upcoming lessons.

ESE stands for exceptional student education classes.…

I liked being able to help them understand the relationships that occur in science.…

Theoretical models =1091 The reasoning for choosing Gibbs (1988) model was my ability to relate to reflection as illustrated by the model. Gibbs use of a cycle demonstrates how the six points of the reflective cycle are linked and this is how I view my incident, in some ways the incident created a chain of events that caused a culmination of effects producing both mental and physical effect for me as the teacher. In essence, I feel that one issue that arose then led to further issues within the lesson which had a detrimental effect on my confidence and as a result on the path the lesson as it evolved. Had I been able to reflect-in-action as noted by Schon (1985) the lesson may not have continued to deteriorate and I may have been able to regain…
