Overall, however, the second amendment is very unique, as only one percent of the world has laws similar to it, whereas about 97 percent of the world has some kind of law similar to the first amendment. The fundamental problem considering the second amendment today is the fact that the US has different regional gun cultures within a unified gun market, dominated by the weapon that embodies the spirit of the second amendment: the handgun, for personal protection. Statistically, tighter gun laws and fewer guns in circulation will decrease the amount of gun violence in the US, and thus it is suggested to treat gun fatality as we did the automobile
