Seborrheic Dermatitis
Overview-
The seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin disease that mainly affects the scalp, causing itching, flaking, redness and persistent dandruff. In infants seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp is known as cradle cap. The disease can also affect the face, chest, back and other parts of the body where the concentration of sebaceous glands is greater. Seborrheic dermatitis has no effect on the patient's state of health, but it can make him uncomfortable and embarrassing when it develops on visible parts of the body.
Causes-
The causes of seborrheic dermatitis are not yet known. Many doctors tend to consider the following factors as triggers:
• Malassezia- This fungus is microscopic life forms that grow along with certain bacteria in the sebum. Sometimes some creams or lotions that contain an antifungal agent such as ketoconazole are able to alleviate the consequences, and this suggests that Malassezia is a major factor in the emergence and development of seborrheic dermatitis.

• Neurological diseases- Seborrheic dermatitis can strike more frequently patients suffering from Parkinson's disease and other neurological diseases.
• Stress and fatigue- Events and stressful situations may trigger dermatitis based on mechanisms that remain unknown to date. Probably are the effects on the nervous system that connect to stress.
• HIV / AIDS - Seborrheic dermatitis can strike with particular frequency and greater severity of patients with HIV / AIDS.
