It is the 25th of February at 6:30 pm as the blazing lights of the city are bewildering from the hilltops of La Jolla as the salty essence of the Bay overwhelms me. The navigator’s voice echoes throughout the car as we descend onto a narrow rocky cliff, following the trail for about a mile until an array of apartments sits on the edge of the cliff. Consistently, most apartment complexes in California are monotonous and dull with no particular architecture or charisma, but the condos in La Jolla are exceptional. The apartments illuminate the darkness of the night with their crisp white walls brimming with wide rectangular windows and red roofs. With the help of social media, news stories, and protests a bulk of information about the unsound lives of captive orcas is becoming extensive globally. The antagonism of keeping orcas in captivity is having a growth spurt as additional numbers of people refuse to buy SeaWorld tickets and spread the word. Audrey is a very pleasant person to protest with because she has all the resources and evidence as a senior animal trainer to fight back at the amusement park, delighted by her abilities to “Keep my enemies close.” Currently, she now has a month left to dispose of her father’s debts, quit her wretched career and obliterate her memories of this job. To my dismay, I finish asking the last question on the interview, flipping through my notebook and attentively scrutinizing each issue to find any information I did not inquire about. Audrey and my parents glance at me like I am insane, but thankfully Audrey catches on to what I am trying to do and giggles before she gently clutches my hand. I do not want to conclude the memorable time we are have had, so I search through my bag until I look inside the I-Search project overview packet and read the interview page. The odds are in my favor! I can ask her something that is not on my list! I silently thank Ms. Reid to myself as I prepare to ask my last question, even though I want to ask heaps
