In order to make an assessment on Seattle University (SU) 2013-2018 Strategic Plan, we have to first identify the fundamental values that drive and set direction to this institution and attempt to understand what it means to it. Weaknesses
• Brand name o Although SU’s name is a noteworthy name in its niche market it may not fair as well when compared to the local competition. Especially when compared to SU. UW has a stronger value attached to their name and can lure away prominent faculty and students. Additionally, it could be of more appeal to companies who can donate or wish to create a joint venture. Finally, Princeton Review Gonzaga (another Jesuit University) who is a direct completion in SU’s market is rated of better overall value5, 8.
• Too many programs offered o Although a variety of programs can be beneficial there might be too many offerings in certain areas. The school of education hold the most amounts of programs and certificate while is not as “recognized”. Maybe it should evaluate the programs that it offers and cut some of them. A reduction in the number of program offered can provide more access to resources for the remaining ones. This could allow better concentration of effort (and conceivably more budget) to make it more
