Seatbelt laws facts/ Script
There are two categories for seatbelt laws: Primary and Secondary.
Primary laws for seatbelts: guarantee you a ticket if you do not wear them while operating a vehicle.
Secondary laws for seatbelts: you can get a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt where there are citable traffic infractions.
Fact 1: the leading cause of deaths of people ages 1-54 are car accidents.
Fact 2: people who get into car accidents and don’t die but are seriously injured will have more than $50 billion of medical bills and work loss costs.
Fact 3: 34 states have primary seatbelt laws for front seat drivers.
Fact 4: people 18-34 are less likely to wear their seatbelts than people older than 35
Fact 5: backseat riders a less like to wear
