There are things being done to help educate and convince people to wear seat belts. A few states have laws on wearing a seat belt. It is not consistent though. 18 out of 50 states have it only as a secondary law. This means an officer cannot pull you over for not wearing a seat belt. Once you have been pulled over a different violation, you then can get a ticket not wearing a seat belt if you haven’t been able to sneak it on before the officer saw you weren’t wearing one. The consequences for not wearing a seat belt are strict enough. Missouri imposes a fine of $10.00 for violation of the Missouri seat belt law if the violation is noted after being pulled-over for another violation. Missouri drivers cannot be pulled over specifically for not wearing a seat belt (Missouri Seat Belt Law). Anyone who can drive, can afford to pay $10 to the government. Like having a commercial on TV. It doesn’t have to be much. It could be just a person talking about how their life was changed because they didn’t wear a seat belt. If we would really like to impact the people watching the commercial, we could show a realist car crash of a person driving in a car unbuckled with a steady beating in the background.
This person then gets in a crash and you hear glass break as the screen goes blank. The beating is now just a flat line. I know a lot of people think this is taking it too far and don't want to see this on commercials, but I would think you would rather see a world with less deaths. This is what happens when you don't wear a seat belt. Don't be ignorant to what happens to people every day. Other peers or children will see this while growing and hopefully try not to end up in that
