This article is about children having a form of depression called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). This is a sneaky form of depression that can affect children, and if not treated can cause depression throughout their lives. The disorder is usually recurrent with the seasonal pattern and returns each year usually through the fall and winter months. SAD or “major depressive disorder” is a form of depression that affects adults as well as children, 3% of children 9 to 17 have this disorder and is more common in older teens and girls.
