Seargent Thurlow Craggs: A Hero

Heroes are people who are willing to sacrifice their lives to fight the evil that threatens the world in order to protect the world for it to be a better place for everyone and certainly Thurlow Craggs is a hero. Seargent Thurlow Craggs is a Vietnam War veteran who believed that serving in the military is all about making sacrifices in a person’s life for the good of the nation and its citizens. Growing up in a military family helped him understand the challenges involved in serving in the military and this prepared him for his service. Serving in the United States armed forces helped shape him into a better person overall. His experiences in the army and during reserves taught him a lot new technical skills which made him successful in his career after the army.
Seargent Craggs was born on September 23, 1953 in Los Angeles, California, as the eldest of four children to Robert and Betty Craggs. The family moved to Northern California when he was six years old because his father got a job at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova. Craggs went to Central Elementary School in Orangevale and then graduated from Folsom High School in 1971. He attended American River College

His father Robert was a navy veteran who took part in the World War II and two of his uncles lost their lives while fighting in World War II. Even though he liked to play with toy soldiers as a child, his dream was to become a highway patrol motorcycle officer when he grows up. He did not think about joining the military until he was in college. This is because the United States was fighting a tough war in Vietnam which took the lives of many Americans and this awakened his patriotism to serve the nation which made him enlist in the army.
