Sealcoat is a product that helps prevents corrosion on black top, which is caused from multiple factors such as the rain, which contains a low acid count. Plowing is also a large factor and one of the harshest reasons upon corrosion. Lastly would be tree roots, weeds and grass. Blacktop is very durable but at the same time it is very fragile. Taking care of a blacktop driveway or parking lot is a major investment that everyone should always consider into when they look to upgrade or maintain a home or business. What is sealcoat? It is a cold tar product that blankets your dry blacktop and protects from cracking and crumbling. When either company arrive to a bid that have to measure the length and width to create the square footage and multiply it by the company’s price which could range from 10 cents per sq. foot or all the way up to 30 cents a foot. After talking with the customer the company comes back to the site and immediately starts to pull weeds and loose dirt from any cracks that are seen. During this time the hot tar crack repair will be heating up. Now that the cracks are clean and the driveway has been blown off it is time to use the hot tar. It goes from the hot kettle into a pour pot that is easily to be used by hand. After hot tar has been applied “black beauty” is sprinkled onto the tar to prevent anyone from sticking onto the filled cracks or spreading it elsewhere. Then the driveway must be blown off yet again because the black beauty will not allow the sealcoat to stick if not cleaned up. While preparing to spray the sealcoat the hose has to be unwrapped and stretched out to the length of the driveway and a piece of plywood needs to be grabbed and placed against the house/garage/sidewalk etc. As the two employee’s work in unison to prevent any over spray to reach any other
