One of the largest similarities between the two, is the creation of strong-willed, hard-working individuals from their previous title as “underdogs.” Seabiscuit and James Braddock were both looked down upon for being either “too old” or “not as large as the other horses.” Their lives consisted of rough starts and overcoming major challenges in order to stay afloat. Although they roughly follow the same kind of story, they have different influences on themselves. Braddock is influenced greatly by his manager Joe Gould, and Seabiscuit by Red Pollard. Red and Seabiscuit benefit the upper class and show them that size doesn’t matter, while Braddock’s fighting benefits the lower class and shows them that age is just a number.
