What I liked about this story was the character Red Pollard the jockey. Red is the child of a Canadian family financially ruined by the Great Depression. He is a poor kid so in desperate need of money so his parents send him to live with a horse trainer. Red then becomes a jockey and makes extra money through illegal boxing matches which left him blind in one eye. He was a sorry-looking horse with a messed up foot so no one wanted him. I didn’t like this because this happens a lot to people because they see someone who is different and they automatically judge and don’t want anything to do with them. Like for example if you don’t have a lot of money then people will look at you funny and don’t want you hanging out with them. That’s what happened to Seabiscuit they seen him as a nothing because he was little different.
At first I would have said that I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone to read because I don’t really like horses and don’t read horse stories but I did like this one because of the lessons behind it, so after reading it I would recommend this book to people because it is a really great story. It was a long story but it didn’t lose my interest at all, each chapter was good and I wanted to read more to find out what was
