Sea Song Meaning

The song that I chose was “Sea” by BTS. The song holds a lot of meaning, to not just me, but to a lot of people worldwide. I chose this song because it has a lot of hidden meaning behind it, more than what we can observe. I feel like I can connect with this song because the song talks about how to think positive when your having a hard time, and I tend to do that. One of the lines that I feel has the biggest impact on me is, “Even if I’m nervous, even if I’m in a desert / I’m in the beautiful Namib Desert” (21-22). These lines are telling the listener that even if you’re having a tough period in your life, think positive and have hope that it will get better. The deeper meaning of the song mainly touches on the topic of hope and despair. For

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

Listening to the selections I found they all generally appeal to me though others have more of an immediate preference than others. A genuine love for music creates an appreciation for all genres. One can respect or acknowledge the environment from which it was produced, its purpose, and the skill of the musician(s). I particularly became fond of The Andrew Sisters after experiencing the song “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”. I recall hearing it from a television commercial vaguely, but it was a completely new thing to see and hear them perform it.…

The first song I picked is “We shall overcome” from Pete Seeger. The song is originally not from him, but was associated with the American folk singer after using it as a song of protest during the Civil Right Movement. The song became an anthem for the movement; because the melody is simple but contains lyrics that can speak to many, the song is a battle cry for any group that would face adversity. In fact, the song is still recorded today in support of diverse causes. Sunday Bloody Sunday from U2 is also another powerful protest song.…

The song also displays the use of “you” which is pushing the listener to go out and do something or trying to persuade them. This makes the song more dramatic and gives very assertive directions for the audience. The listener may feel as though it is now their duty to follow through with these commands due to the direction and emotion in the…

Theme Song Essay Music has always been such a necessity to me. Sometimes when I listen to certain songs it brings so many different emotions to me, other times music will remind me of certain memories or people. Music can be such a powerful thing to some people. You can listen to music when you are sad, happy, excited, angry, etc. However, my go-to song when I feel like I'm going through a hard time and need some motivation or reminder that you have to stay positive through all the negative situations in life is Olivia Lane’s song “Make My Own SunShine”.…

The Plague of Progress: Mishima’s Characterization and Views of Westernization A common misconception is that change always equates to progress, yet sometimes change can strip a society of its fundamental characteristics. Japan endured similar events, surrounding World War II that resulted in an increasingly Westernized country that lost it’s integrity and beliefs. In this allegorical novel, The Sailor who fell from Grace with the Sea, Yukio Mishima uses the characters Fusako, Ryuji and Noboru whom symbolize the different states of Japan to illustrate the plague of Westernization and convey the value of tradition in Japan. Primarily, Fusako embodies modern Japan with her obsession with foreign goods and focus on economic growth, which conveys…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

The song that I was thinking about choosing would Cocaine by Eric Clapton. The reason for choosing this song would be the lyrical concepts presented throughout the verses. This song is in a way about addiction and how it can control, even ruin your life. The song starts out saying “if you wanna hangout, you’ve gotta take her out, cocaine”, (Slowhand) meaning that if you are addicted to cocaine you will need it just to leave your house. Also you can cure any down with cocaine, if you are addicted, but at the risk of losing a day of your life.…

The first song I chose was I’m Bad at Love by Halsey. Halsey’s song entails all of her past failed relationships. Now I can’t relate to each of Halsey’s relationships she describes in the song, but I relate to her underlying message. This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man.…

It does however use several words that mean sadness, for example “I lost a friend” is implying that they have lost a friend but in reality, the friend has become lost within his addiction or problem. One of the most repeated lines within the whole song “And I would have stayed up with you all night, had I known how to save a life” is the most symbolic. This is because most people would imagine that the artist would stay up all night to save the teen, but rather if the artist knew what to do to help the teen he would stay up for as long as possible to save him. Although this is a very sad song due to the tone of the song, I found it also motivating. This is because of the tone the song was set at.…

Like the previous two this is another hardship song. At the start of the song the lines ”Don’t look at me with those eyes, Don’t be deluded, That’s your misunderstanding, Don’t even think that”, talk about how they are judging her and start assuming facts that aren’t true. Like the previous line “ I live in tears and let out sighs every day “ can be found at the beginning of the song, and is a metaphor that roughly talks about how she cries everyday because of how people treat her. The singer later goes on to talk about how angry she is that everyone has treated like horribly and the one person she thought she could confide in also treated her like everyone else. She also talks about how she’s going to move on and pick herself up, so she can be loved just like the person she thought she could confide in ,most likely a friend.…
