At first, when Tyson comes to Camp Half-Blood, Percy is embarrassed to admit that Tyson is his brother. He didn’t like being known as “the poor schmuck with the ugly monster as a brother”. He was angry at his dad for sending him a monster instead of a regular half-blood for a brother. Towards the end of the book, Percy realizes how kind Tyson was to him after all those things he did to him. No matter what, Tyson was always there by his side keeping him away from danger. What really changed Percy’s opinion towards Tyson was when Tyson told him that Percy was the friend that he asked Poseidon for, but better.
