Improved Essays
Sea horses have adapter to a better survivable habitat by camouflage, with armored bodies. From recent knowledge, "camouflage" means the disguising of a enemy personal. To me the seahorses are being able to do that to get away form predators(enemy). In paragraph 1, the author states" They are captains of camouflage with armored bodies and talented tails. I think that the author is trying to state that they are really talented, and are very good at disguising themselves. Also in paragraph 3, it states" They can change colors to camouflage themselves." I think that it is really cool that the author put this in there because not many animals can change colors just like sea horses do. Sea horses can protect themselves with their strong attack,

    1. " The youth kept the bright colors to the front. He was waving his free arm in furious circles, the while shrieking mad calls and appeals, urging on those that did not need to be urged, for it seemed that the mob of blue men hurling themselves on the dangerous group of rifles were again grown suddenly wild with an enthusiasm of unselfishness. From the many firings starting toward them, it looked as if they would merely succeed in making a great sprinkling of corpses on the grass between their former position and the fence. But they were in a state of frenzy, perhaps because of forgotten vanities, and it made an exhibition of sublime recklessness.…

E.J. Pratt grew up with the aftermath of the great war, also known as world war one, and his poem, “The Shark” captures the tone and atmosphere once the great war was over. “The Shark” talks about the tension and the sudden relief that everyone felt, although there are many poems about the war there is none that talks about the aftermath, which makes “The Shark” different than any other poems about the great war. Therefore, I believe “The Shark” by E.J. Pratt is a magnificent poem that truly captures the atmosphere after world war one. Although “The Shark” is about the Great War the plot of the story is about the suspense and tension the presence of the shark had at the harbor.…

George Stubbs “White Poodle in a Punt”, was one of his creative paintings of animals. During his lifetime, George Stubbs was famous for his paintings of domestic and exotic animals, and have produced the most anatomically precise images of horses. The dog is the point of interest in the painting. The use of dark colors makes the fur stand out and the use of lines used to make the fur look as it was moving in the wind, which adds to the value of the entire painting. Also in the painting, it shows tall trees surrounded by the water, but they aren’t sharply delineated.…

The painting Allegory by Ben Shahn was produced in 1948 and is on display at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The medium of the painting is tempera on panel. The artist’s style consists of slightly visible brushstrokes with an almost surreal form. There is not much variety of color, but that quality unifies all the separate, differing shapes. Since the same colors are usually placed in every part of the painting, the entire work is balanced.…

“The Knight” by Adrienne Rich establishes the conflict between how we, as a society, view people externally versus how people view themselves internally. By using figurative language, including extended metaphor, imagery, and anaphora, Rich imposes the idea of how we shouldn’t expect people to be exactly how we see them. The entire poem is nothing more than an extended metaphor. An extended metaphor is a metaphor that is developed over the course of a body of text. In “The Knight” the speaker compares the knight to people who go through life trying to be brave when they are actually dead on the inside.…

The narrator has an innocent curiosity when he hears the croaking of the frogs, he creeps through hedges just to catch a glimpse of the frogs making this unusual sound. When he breaks through and identifies what is making the sound he is repulsed by the very sight of it. Multiple times he uses language that would convey a child who is fearful of what he is looking at. There is also an implication that the young narrator believes the frogs are actually forming an army with the sole intent of attacking him. He uses phrases such as “gross bellied frogs were cocked” and “poised like mud grenades” that implicate different military techniques.…
