This course was extremely intriguing and had me hooked from the first discussion forum. It required me to venture out of my comfort zone and ask questions that others viewed as odd, but I knew was going to assist me in my studies. I can recall one specific instance where I was on twenty-four-hour duty and I began asking a police officer doing his security checks questions. It had to be two in the morning and you can tell by the exhausted look on his face when he walked through the bitter cold into our dimly lit building entrance. He spoke with very little energy as he said good morning, but once I began asking him the list of questions that I just so happened to have typed on my laptop screen he immediately perked up and began to speak with life.…
Throughout three weeks of the course, numerous of professionals have come to speak and interact with us and I believe their presentation changed my life, by providing life lesson, advice, and exposure. Yanely Espinal presentation about credit and retirement saving birth my self-reflection process, which filled my mind full of thoughts about the future. It made me worried on the subject of how I will deal with my financial situation in the future. Asking myself how I can possibly manage a good credit score and money. Ms. Espinal exposure into the finance world was simply overwhelming, but the exposure got me thinking to plan ahead sooner than later.…
The course required a lot of commitment but after taking my test and seeing the results all the sacrifices I made really paid off.…
I have learned real life skills in the program. It has taught me to work independently, and it has taught me to how to learn independently. I have gained skills in real world problem solving, and I have gained critical thinking skills. As a sophmore, I obtained my Technician, General and Extra FCC amatuer radio licenses. I presently have the highest degree license…
Sandra, I could think of one area in which to me the 5Cs did not do a good enough job for improved patient outcomes and that would be in the area of patient identification because it relies on verbal affirmation of name (Institute for Safe Medical Practices, 2011). I work at the VA and for whatever reason I have and can have three John Richardsons in one night to care for of my six patients all clustered in the same area (some may be spelled slightly different)! Or all my patients or in for the same condition. I have had to stop many doctors from going into the wrong room to consult on a patient when they have just scribbled the name of the patient on a piece of paper. Sometimes I do not catch them in time and they walk out asking why certain…
Before taking SGST 200 class, I had a very narrow view of sexualities and gender’s problems, but I was fine with that for such a long time. Even when I decide to take this class, I wasn’t expecting to change or have a whole new view of problems like racism, sexism, and homophobia. In SGST200, I learned that there is nothing wrong with being different from others, we should be proud of ourselves and be respectful to others. We can’t change the biological diversity; everyone is different since they are born and they have rights to choose what they want to be.…
I am requesting readmission to UC San Diego for the fall of 2017. Since my absence from UCSD I have taken 54 semester units at San Diego Mesa College and currently have a GPA of 2.94. I enrolled in the summer session at Mesa with 8 units and my trending GPA for this session is a 4.0. With these marks I will achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.08, meeting the requirement for readmission. I was suspended from UCSD by academic disqualification.…
S.O.L enabled me to engage my ideas with several different people including my school peers as well as community leaders. Not only did I learn that working in a team is about throwing ideas into the mix and using the strengths of every individual to produce the best outcome but I also learned the value that comes…
This semester has really helped me see my potential as a student. I have developed new habits, learned new strategies, and exceeded many academic and personal goals. In this essay I will be explaining how this SDEV course helped me do all these things, as well as help me decide the career i will be pursuing. Throughout my college experience I have been pursuing a sociology degree but, the more I learned about Psychology the more I started to be attracted to it. Our Holland Typology assignment really helped me gain insight into both of the majors I have been stuck between.…
I personally have noticed many changes throughout this course. I mostly noticed how now I analyze my jobs more with my coworkers, bosses and myself. I have one job that I absolutely love and another one that I do not care for very much, I did not really understand why because I get along well with my coworkers and higher ups. As our course went on and I started to understand business some more I then realized why there were certain things that were shaping my views about my jobs. One big thing that I noticed was the team work at my jobs.…
Goal I The first goal of the program was to “Apply major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology to prepare for graduate study or careers in which psychological training is relevant”(). Two classes met this goal, Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111) taken at Anne Arundel Community College, and Introduction to Counseling Psychology (PSYC 432) taken at the University of Maryland University College. Introduction to Psychology was the first psychology course I took many years ago. It was the class I took because I had an empty slot on my schedule.…
In instructional design, evaluation of and reflection on product and process is critical. As an instructional designer, I must continue to reflect on my skills and growth as I reflect on my work. My graduate work continues my scholarship of teaching and learning that I started in my undergraduate work. As I learn how to teach, I also learn how to learn, making me a better instructor.…
During this course I was able to see many different aspects of management. As a business major I was excited to finally take a course that I felt really related to the topic. My business communication and writing skills have vastly improved after taking this class. I am extremely thankful for the knowledge I gained, as I know it will help me throughout my life and career. I know so much more about business and everything that is associated with it.…
When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…
This course has definitely opened my eyes to what goes on in the world and had taught how to better understand my community and the people in it. The knowledge obtained from this course will and can be applied to my everyday life for the betterment of myself and my…
