If a person continues to practice a sinful behavior, but expects others to embrace their lifestyle that concept is ludicrous. No, a gay married couple should not be allowed to hold any kind of position in a SDA church for three of the following reasons. When you hold a position in the SDA church you need to be someone who is living a Godly life. In the bible it is clear that God does not condone homosexual relationships. Finally, the impact of having someone who is gay holding a leadership role will have dramatic consequences in the church. When you hold a position in the SDA church you need to be certain that your life reflects God’s laws and not man’s law. God will expect more from those in leadership position to inforce and follow his commandments. If those in a leadership position live a sinful, carefree life with no regard to how it would impact others; how could they reach members of the church who are struggling to overcome sin? The story of Hophni and Phinehas which is found in 1 Samuel 2:12 is a good example because they were priest in the temple of God. We must remember that the gay people are not being singled out but all sinners are. The reason these sinners are being singled out is because they are not trying to fix their sins. Also, if you want to hold a position in church you must be willing to live a Godly life. Remember that God sees sin as sin. In Proverbs 28:13 NIV states “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” God wants people who are going to be faithful and follow all of his
