On July 26th 2016, this picture was taken in Belize City, Belize; this was taken under water at a dive site called Ambergris Caye. Now some may say, "A Picture Says 1000 Words," so I want you to take a good look at the picture above and try to figure out my story.
Now before I go into too much detail about the picture and tell you my story, I need to give you just a little background information. I first got certified to be a scuba diver in 2011, and I was just turning twelve at the time. Scuba diving is my life and I enjoy every single second I get to be underwater. So, my mom and I have been to many places to dive including: Key Largo, Florida; Key West, Florida; Jupiter, Florida; West Palm, Florida; and Athens, Tennessee.

The week before we left, we packed our dive gear consisting of: regulators, buoyancy control device (BCD 's), mask, fins, gloves, skins and wetsuits, weights, dive logs, cameras, dive computers, and back up batteries. When the day came to hop on the plane, my mom and I couldn 't even contain our excitement. After a three-hour plane ride, we finally arrived at the Belize airport. After going through immigration processes we grabbed our luggage and ran to find our friends. Once we found everyone, we looked for a person holding a sign that said Belize Aggressor IV. Then, when we found our guy holding the sign, William, he gave us some disappointing news. He said that we either had to wait three hours for the other plane and go back with him or pay for a taxi. We all weren 't thrilled by this answer considering we had just got off the plane, it was extremely hot, and we were lugging our suitcases everywhere we went.
As time passed, we decided to pay for a cab and go to the port. So, we flagged down a taxi and headed to the boat. Once we got there, we were greeted by welcoming smiles. The crew took our luggage, and we all got settled in. After everyone arrived we settled down for the night and headed towards open waters. As the days passed, we became more accustom to waking up at six in the morning and doing six dives a day, which each dive lasted about an hour or

There are very few national debates within the country of Canada that are as prominent as the arguments surrounding the Atlantic seal hunt. The seal hunt is a traditional event that happens annually in the Atlantic provinces of Canada which takes place in the early spring of the year. This annual hunt provides a significant source of income to many of the residents in the Atlantic provinces (Sanger, 1998). The large debate surrounding the topic of the seal hunt is due to the fact that many people believe that the hunt is inhuman and should be stopped. The other side of this debate is that the hunt is not only humane but is also important to the Atlantic provinces and therefore should continue (Vaughan, 2009).…

I bobbed up and down lightly in the warm, blue waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The lonely figure of the boat that brought me here waited patiently about thirty yards off in the the distance, its mast and sail rising high into the pale blue morning sky. Below me loomed The Great Blue Hole of Belize, it's depths below me seemed to stare back with a menacing gaze. I traveled a long way from home just to use this spot for my freediving training. It’s hard to find a place like this in Illinois.…

Deep Sea Vent Ecology - A Brief and Semi-Remembered Broad Overview So there's life in the deep oceans here on Earth, and I mean the deep oceans, two and three miles down, where light has never and will never reach. And this life lives without oxygen, or light, and they do it around deep sea vents, fissures in the tectonic plate, that spew heavy metals and toxic gases at scorching (or boiling, as the case may be) temperatures. These chemicals and metals build up around the fissure and form massive chimney like structures, that will eventually become covered in wonderful and strange forms of life. The interesting thing about this life is that it sustains itself by a process found nowhere else; the base of the ecosystem, the bacteria that is so abundant, devours these heavy metals using special enzymes.…

    Essay On Diving Mammals

    • 2 Pages

Diving Mammals There are many different types of aquatic mammals such as pinnipeds ,whales, dolphins, seals, otters, beaver, muskrat, hippopotamus and walrus. These diving mammals don't breathe underwater as fish do, so their respiratory systems had to protect the body from the surrounding water; valvular nostrils and an intranarial larynx exclude water while breathing and swallowing. To navigate and detect prey in murky and turbid waters, aquatic mammals have developed a variety of sensory organs: for example, pinnipeds have elongated and highly sensitive whiskers that can pick up vibrations from fishes and reveal information about water currents, and toothed whales have evolved echolocation. Polar bears, otters, seals, sea lions, and beavers…
