The Journalist of Visions Have you ever picked up a novel and could not put it down? I enjoyed the book Scribbler of Dreams because it drew me in from the start. This book was not based on any true events. It was all thought of by the author. Another great thing about Scribbler of Dreams is that the concept is not that hard to interpret. Scribbler of Dreams is a significant text students should read because of its intriguing plot, the diverse characters, and the interesting point of view. Similarly, the documentary, Heroin Cape Cod, USA focused on the widespread abuse of Vicodin, Percocet, and Oxycodone that has led the U.S. into the rise of an opiate addiction today. Both the book and the chapter explain the harassment that Japanese-Americans faced, the rise of the aircraft industry and how it benefited women, and the racial division that African-Americans faced in the workforce.…

Although micro work is an important part of the social work profession, additional steps are often necessary to produce change within a society. In the Dreamer documentary, Bendita Veliz excelled in the United States and really had little need for social services. However, because of her illegal immigration status, she did not have many rights and was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and now lives a very restricted life. The documentary depicts the importance of the role of policy in social work because while many people view policy as something distant with very little effect on everyday life, the film captured the pervasive way in which immigration legislature can affect someone’s life.…

His writing style is unlike anything I’ve read before; I’ve read a lot of books. I was never a fan of nonfiction, but just from this book I’ve come to love King’s writing style. Because his writing is so captivating, I plan on reading other books he wrote. When people take what they know and teach other people, it’s truly a beautiful thing. King wrote this book because he wanted to show people how he became the writer he is today, to teach people of the mechanics of writing which he thought was the most important, to answer questions people had been asking him for years (pg 265).…

Dreams and Deception: Sports Lure, Racism, and Young Black Males’ Struggle in Sports and Education Dreams and Deception by Isabel Ann Dwornik, which was published on January 31, 2017.
