There are a lot of different view points in the subject of screen time for children. Screen time can include, television, video games, tablet, or phone games and apps. Screen time can affect many different aspects of a child's development. Children can be influenced by anyone, from a family member talking on Facetime, to a computer programer in New Delli.

Some experts have been cited as stating that TV watching is not good for children, and others cited, that it is not bad. Media content is obviously a major factor in many aspects. There was an experiment done in the 1990's which found that children who were exposed to the Power Rangers television show demonstrated more aggression and violence compaired children who were not exposed to the show.

Videos are not always bad. Content can obviously be a good factor in child development, since video images can bring information not previously available. Now students can see video images of outerspace, bringing beautiful pictures of earth, the space station, and other activity that could not be done with a simple photograph. The president is able to give a speach to eveyone in the nation from his podium, with a live video feed to many video monitors. We can have a live facetime chat with someone on the other side of the world. A student can get extra help on a topic

I have experienced the stimulation that it brings to myself to play video games. Watching an exciting movie can keep me from sleeping, where I would rather stay up late and watch the movie than go to sleep. After an exciting movie I may find it more difficult to go to sleep. After reading about the journal articles stating that screen time is an average of 7.5 hours a day for American children, it inhibits creativity, problem solving, and causes obesity--I have to wonder about the truth in that.
