First day of school ended up looking like the gilded age, appeared perfect, but it was more complicated and troublesome. Since the day a graduated, I planned the first day of school to be ideal. I was going to greet my students, learn about their personalities, play some games and read some fun stories. However, my plans just went straight to the trash, not to mention my students who were quite obnoxious, but specially this little rascal, Mrs.Scout Finch, she was the perfect golden brooch to end the day. It was a hot, steamy, summerlike weather in Maycomb, Alabama. I have organized and planned splendid lessons for the kids. As I arrived in the classroom, I felt my body was going to burst out of excitement. As the bell rang, students came …show more content…
Finch once again gave me an answer “Jem says I was. He read in a book where I was a Bullfinch instead of a Finch. Jem says my name’s really Jean Louise Bullfinch, that I got swapped when I was born and i’m really a--” I had to stop this nonsense “let’s not let our imaginations run away with us, dear,” I said. The interference of her studies had to stop, it’s only polluting and damaging her learning. My intentions were not to be rude in anyway, but I want my students to learn with a fresh mind rather than being contaminated by some unplanned lessons, I know my lessons are capable of helping my students. Without delay, I had to proceed with my lessons, most of the students were very attentive and silent, but of course there was this tiny exception , Mrs. Jean Louise Finch, I caught her writing a letter, another problem. It too early for her to write so I had to state again to tell her father to stop teaching her. Writing it’s supposed to be learnt in the third grade and right now she only needs to print. There is no …show more content…
In the meantime, a student’s desk caught my eye, there wasn’t any type of lunch, not a sandwich nor a piece of bread, nothing. The student was Walter Cunningham. My doubts had to be answered “did you forget your lunch this morning?” I said. Since I didn't get an answer I asked one more time, this time Walter answered with a yes. Letting one of my students without a proper meal during school time was not an option so I offered Walter a quarter so he could buy some lunch today and also the alternative to pay me tomorrow. I really thought he was going to accept my offer, but surprisingly he said no. A no as an answer was not acceptable so I insisted. When Walker shook his head saying no once again. I heard a whisper mentioning Mrs. Finch. She proceeds saying that he was a Cunningham. My first reaction was being puzzled “What Jean Louise?” I said. Mrs. Finch tried once again to explain that he was a Cunningham. I began to feel irritated since she was being so vague and not going straight to the point, leaving me with doubts. She soon explained me that the Cunninghams were people who will never take anything that they can’t pay back and since they don’t have much, they get along with it. Perplexed was the only word that could describe my reaction,
