Scout Coming Of Age Quotes

The coming of age of Scout When we first starting reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee it seemed like Scout would be the one that would be coming of age. Throughout the book Lee was showing us little things that was coming of age Scout. My first quote is “You gonna take that back, boy?“You make me first!” he yelled. “My folks said your daddy was a disgrace an’ that nigger oughta hang from the water-tank!” “‘I drew a bead on him, remembered what Atticus had said, then dropped my fist and walked away, “Scout's a coward!” “‘ringing in my ears. It was the first time I ever walked away from a fight.”’ (Lee 76-77). I think that this quote means that she came of age because she said this was the first time she had ever walked away from a fight, and the only reason why she walked away was because of her father he was not there to talk to Scout I'm sure …show more content…
But instead she listened to father and walked away that also shows you that she was mature enough to handle what Cecil was saying and just walk away from it. My last quote is “Please sir, just let it go. please.” ”I’ve no intention of letting it go,” he said “Alexandra should know about this. The idea of-- wait I get my hands on that boy..” “‘Uncle Jack, please promise me somethin’, please sir. Promise you won't tell Atticus about this. He--he asked me one time not to let anything I heard about him make me mad an’ I’d ruther him think we were fightin’ about somethin’ else instead. Please promise.”’ “But I don't like Francis getting away with something like that--” “He didn't. you reckon you could tie up my hands? It’s still bleedin’ some.” (Lee 86). This shows coming of age of Scout because its showing us that she has mature she is grown enough to let this fight go and let go what Francis said about Atticus. Even though her uncle does not like

Socrates once stated that “The secret to change is to focus all your energy, not in fighting the old, but on building a new.” As life goes on many changes occur every day, whether it is the smallest change in a person or a larger change in a community those changes affect many, allowing for them to either grow from those experiences or stay the same. Depending on the person many of these changes can ruin lives, while others change in order to face those problems.
