The United STates attracted a group of Scottish Immigrants during the 1700’s. One factor that pushed Scottish people out of Scotland was the conflict that began to grow between Britain and the colonies. Scots moved to America to escape the oppressive rule of the England searching for political and religious freedom. Many Scottish people couldn’t afford ship tickets so they came to America because they had to be indentured servants. According to the website indentured servants/ stradfor hall, a lot of the servants were doing work as a cook, clerk, gardeners, and housekeeping, all of the servants signed a contract with a leader and while they were under that contract they could not get married or have children.
