Scott Westerfeld Symbols

If the main character Tally of my book Specials by Scott Westerfeld could have any symbol for her personality it would be a heart with two swords behind it. The heart represents her kindness. Throughout the story she’s very kind and very caring to her friends. For example when she turned special and her boyfriend didn’t she always came and talked to him and made him feel better, even though it was against the rules. Also the swords represented her strength and bravery. She is strong by going through battles among uglies and smokies. She is brave by going against the rules, doing the right things that would seem bad, and fighting against people. Her symbol would be a heart with two swords behind it because she is caring, strong, and

Stitching Conclusions The physical world is filled with symbols. Symbols, physical objects that represent ideas, emotions, or philosophies, are universally recognizable and important, especially in the literary tradition. Authors use symbols to rationalize the world by connecting thoughts and people; they use symbols to explain and expose the reality of the world, society, and the human condition. Yet, in many ways, the significance of symbols transcends beyond their connections to themes. People not only assign meaning to objects, they assign humanity into objects, permanently interjecting a personal part of themselves into the world.…

    Simon Armitage's Symbols

In the poem ‘Mother, any distance greater than a single span’, Simon Armitage has used symbolism to support the idea of a mother holding her child back and not wanting to let go. My first point will be his symbol of a tape measure as the years of the child growing older, followed an anchor as the mother and a kite as the child. This shows us that although things are changing, it is still important to keep a strong relationship so that you always have someone to support you. No matter how distant you become from one to another, blood will always be thicker.…

The iconic 80’s song “Eye of the Tiger” by the band Survivor pairs well with Mark Watney’s powerful will to survive in the earlier days of his very long stay on Mars. Watney, barely alive, and believed to be dead by his crewmates he was left alone on the barren planet of Mars. Even worse, if one thing is out of place or suddenly breaks, he’s a goner. In chapter 2, through this hardship however, our protagonist brings himself to smile and crack jokes just like it was another leisurely day, however he is still utterly aware of his situation and he knows what he needs to do. The main lyrics of the song say, “It’s the eye of the tiger”.…

In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, he separates the story into three parts and uses the titles as a metaphor to help further the plot and show the development of his characters. He uses these three parts to tell a story within the story itself, a story of a man trying to win back his right to think on his own. The titles represent his struggles and his triumphs, which ultimately in the end all tie together to create the overall theme of the novel. Bradbury divides this story into three parts because he wants to show the development of Montag as a character, his struggle with society’s flaws, and the future of humanity if we continue to reject change.…

His condition hints at instability as he also meets aliens, or the Tralfamadorians, who live on a utopian planet. The reason behind why I picked a heart is because I think it matches Maniac’s personality. In the text it said that Maniac was helpful and kind he was helping with Hester and Lester. Maniac also helped other little kid with there shoes and when Maniac met Amanda he was very kind and they started talking. The other reason I used a heart is because he had nowhere to go and no place to call home so Amanda’s family let Maniac stay at there house. The way that part connects to Maniac being kind is that he felt loved by Amanda’s family and plus Maniac is an orphan.…

Symbolism in To Kill a Mocking Bird Whether it be in literature or even shown in pictures, people use things to represent something with a deeper meaning and that’s called symbolism. In the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” by author Harper Lee, various different themes or symbols are active throughout the book all directly or in some way being tied to the ultimate theme of the book, which is not being able to understand someone until you experience life from their point of view. The most apparent reoccurring theme though is equality because of the fact it’s symbolized through people, birds, and even inanimate objects that Scout and Jem encounter over the course of the book in the tree that turns out to play a bigger part of the story as the…

A prophetic revealed that during the life of the holy Prophet (SAW), Umar Ibn Khatab made an inquiry on how he should arrange a piece of property and the Prophet answered by saying “preserve the thing itself and devote its fruit for religious purpose.” According to this narration, Umar Ibn Khatab, withheld the property from being sold or willed out, rather the property was held for commercial purpose and the income generated was used for charity purpose. This action of Umar ibn Khatab was cited as the first example of waqf in Islam (Bremer, 2004). Kahf (1998) gives a comprehensive…
