Scott Murray

I interviewed a man by the name of Scott Murray. He started his home based business because he did not have a sufficient way of getting to and from work. By doing stunts on dirt bikes, Mr. Murray began a new business called “Sick Air”. He believes the most important characteristics of an entrepreneur are dedication, determination, hardworking, knowledge of ones owns self worth, and recognizing supply and demand. I couldn’t agree more with him; I would have to add honesty to that mix. Mr. Murray touched on this quite a bit more when talking about what was most motivating to him about running a small business. Especially since you’re motivated by your own desires to be successful. Later on in his career, demand for riders went down while supply went up. “The biggest issue is staying competitive in a young mans market.” Now Mr. Murray has built a course on his property, where young men come from across the nation come to train, and pursue their dream of becoming professional athletes. Mr. Murray concluded by speaking on how he became a teacher, helping other people execute their dreams to help them come alive. This whole story has shown me how running your own business can be exciting as well as challenging. A business might be forced to change as time goes by, and like Mr. Murray had demonstrated, sometimes you have to change your plan, and be willing to adapt. It seems very risky to me, but as I’ve learned, that is closely related to the definition of Entrepreneurship. After this interview I was left with the impression that it takes a special kind of person to be an entrepreneur.
