We have diagnosed you with scoliosis because your degree is over 11. This is considered mild scoliosis because it is under 20 degrees. If you were to have moderate scoliosis your curve would have to be between 25 and 70 degrees. Anything over 70 degrees would be considered severe scoliosis. If your curvature was more than 100 degrees, it would be considered very severe scoliosis but this severe curvature is very uncommon.
Since your scoliosis is nonstructural, it is considered temporary. In nonstructural scoliosis, your actual vertebrae do not twist which can then cause ribcage problems. We will monitor your curve in your spine and if it jumps from 15 degrees to 20 degrees we will talk about putting you in the appropriate brace to further prevent the curvature from becoming worse. …show more content…
With your curve since it is considered a mild curve, there are no threats and only should be monitored. If you leave the scoliosis untreated, then yes, your organs can be affected. For moderate scoliosis, no organs would be affected. However, you may find it hard to do exercises. For severe scoliosis, this can cause major problems for your ribs and lungs. This makes further complications of your heart and oxygen levels, which in turn causes an amount of other problems. Lastly, this is highly unlikely for you, very severe scoliosis decreases your lifespan do to the complications of the huge curvature. Your lungs and your heart can be injured and you are very susceptible to lung diseases such as pneumonia. Luckily, for you Mrs. Vinton, will never have to worry about the very severe scoliosis. The likelihood of your curvature proceeding from 15 degrees to over 100 degrees, is nearly
