Scientific Theory Vs. Old Earth Creationism

Improved Essays
Throughout the ages, there has been an ongoing debate in the Christian society over how God created the world. The Bible seems to tell the creation story very clearly, but there are many different interpretations of what it actually means. There are mainly two sides to the debate: the side that says the creation story is very literal and the side wch says the creation story is metaphorical. In the past, many arguments have arose over these different topics and there have been many variations of evolution theories, many of those trying to mix God’s creation with scientific theory. As Christians, it is hard to know for sure how the Earth was truly mad because of God’s power to do anything, but all that can be done is to make an educated, Bible based guess. We know that the information we discover should come from both empirical evidence and special evidence of the Bible, which is why we cannot solely take all of our evidence from one and not the other. Evolution happens on two levels: a macro scale and a micro scale. Some theories that are widely accepted today that come from a combination of …show more content…
Young Earth Creationists believe that the universe was made in six literal days and has only existed for the past 7500 years. This does not match at all with science. Science believes and has very strong evidence, by measuring the rate of expansion of the universe, that the universe is very old, about 13.8 billion years old. It is also believed that the Earth and humans are about 4.5 billion years old. This means that God most likely made the universe over a long span of time since the literal “six day” creation story would only age them 6 days apart. For this belief, a person would have to put aside strong scientific beliefs. Also, the word day could be translated into more of an age or time span, which also supports creation being more spread

Evolutionary Creationism is a belief that God created the universe and all life including our surroundings through evolution. We have an old Earth that is 4.6 billion years old. When God was creating the Earth, the seven days weren't made up of our twenty-four hour days. The time he spent was consisted of what we know now as years. This took up a lot of time as well as the many years in between each event in the Bible.…

Creation science is a pseudoscience because it disregards scientific evidence that contradicts it and provides illogical explanations to prove their argument. To begin with, the evolution model counter argues all of the creation model’s seven aspects with its seven aspects. In the evolution model’s perspective, the universe, solar system, and life were created by natural processes, mutations and natural selection bring different kinds of complex organisms from its predecessors’ simpler forms, men and apes share a common ancestor, earth’s geological features change, or remain the same, from its slow, gradual processes with infrequent catastrophic events, and earth and living organisms exist a long time ago. There is scientific evidence to prove…

Obviously, humans, who are very intricate and amazing, could not have just evolved! In Psalm 104:5, the psalmist declares, “He (God) set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved.” (English Standard Journaling Bible) God is the creator, who in just six days, created the universe by fiat. For example, Genesis 1:4 states, “and God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (English Standard Journaling Bible)…

Many religious individuals have a creational story in which they feel is how the universe was created, yet again these stories have no evidence to support it occurs; however, there is scientific proof that the universe was create from the Big Bang. “The Big Bang theory successfully describes how expansion and cooling of this unimaginably intense mixture…could have led to the present universe of stars and galaxies…explains several aspects of today’s universe with impressive accuracy (Bennett, Donahue, Schneider, & Voit, 2014). The fact that this theory is “successful” proves that there is significant research and support for this theory, which is the complete opposite of religious creational stories. Human evolution is also a key contradiction of many with religious beliefs. In studying the Abrahamic traditions specifically, the belief is that Adam was the first human to be created and based on two creational stories there are two examples in which explains how he occurred; however, it fails to realize that humans account for only a small period od existence on Earth and that we evolved from earlier Homo species (Lehman,…

To start, evolution is, from the lecture Evolutionary Biology: All things great from small, the transformation of animals, plants, and other living organisms into different forms by the accumulation of changes over successive generations (OED). Based on Darwin’s argument, it has been taught that natural selection is known for the causes of evolution because natural selection is the process of which the environment favor the species with favorable traits that will help them survive. Scientists believes that at some point all living beings were one single cell, but throughout years it all developed into animals and humans. In the other hand, religious people, in this case Christians, believe a Superior Being created humanity and other living…

One of those pieces of evidence is how the universe and solar system was suddenly created. When all of this was created, it was already balanced and fully functional. It had everything necessary to keep its existence and be able to hold life. It had its uniqueness and complexity already fully developed. If evolution really was true and the whole universe came from a bang, it still would have taken billions of years to become fully developed and have a balance that would maintain its existence.…

Modern scientific thought includes many theories pertaining to the origins of the world, especially the evolution of man. The Old Testament gives correct instruction and starts with the wonder of God’s work as it directly relates to people. First, God made our world (Genesis 1:1-25), next he created us (Genesis 1:26-27). There is no better explanation of what we are and that we are beholden to our Creator.…

A few key points I would like to bring your attention mainly lay in contrast to your firm stances concerning the age of the planet and the assertion that species do evolve and the age of the planet. The importance of this debate survived countless generations of scientific inquiry because it was a critical part of step towards a greater quest to explain the existence of life. For many centuries, the evidence on evolution was often unsubstantiated until Charles Darwin, developed the foundational ideas of evolution, creating a set of postulates that when adhered to, could determine if a species is able to evolve. The first of these…

This is a common question that everyone ask and all though many studies have been done, no one has a definite answer. This is one of those questions that can be debated for a long time but know one one knows the real answer. This question splits people into two general groups, the believers in God and the believers in science. The believers in science don't believe in God because they think everything was created naturally or by the big bang theory, while the believers in God are usually religious and believe that the bible and Jesus are clear evidence that God exist. Both of the sides are neither wrong nor right and the only way to find if God exist is up to God himself.…

Contradictory views appear everywhere and have done so for many years, looking back to the time of early philosophers, this is no exception. The main topic of early philosophers, it seems, was the issue proposed by the Cosmological philosophers of how the earth and all the things in it came to be. With this question came many different answers, from water, atoms and beyond, this topic was probed, discussed and argued about. The Medieval Philosophers, just like everyone else, looked deep into this highly opposing topic, and found the answer which many still agree with today, which is the notion that God is the cause of all creation, or in other words, the creation model. The greatness of the Medieval time period and the creation model is held within the proof they found that the earth and all things in it came to be through God, by examining the nature of God, the existence of God and finally the fundamental relationship between faith and reason.…
