In Scientific Research-Based Interventions there are three tiers used in Connecticut, while some states such as Georgia use a four-tiered model. Each student receives instruction based on their needs and can move within the pyramid as data supports. Tier I is universal intervention, tier 2 is group intervention, and tier 3 is individual intervention. This essay will explore Scientific Research-Based Interventions and its impact on elementary education and explain the special education referral process. It will explain different ways to make each child thrive at each level.

An individualized education program (IEP) is made and will be important throughout the child’s schooling. SRBI can be a very successful application when all key features are met. Each section of the tiers are important along with high‐quality ethical teaching, collaboration of all people involved, correct data, and family engagement help build upon the accomplishment of a struggling student.
