Whether they are reengineering the pay and benefits of the company or implementing Total Quality Management (TQM) programs, Human Resources Managers play a central role in making effective decisions in order to benefit the entire management. Most importantly, the practice of Human Resource Management is undergoing a technological revolution.

Therefore effective decision making is very important in achieving these human resource activities. Making an effective decision will eventually lead to the progress and success of an organization. Good decisions leads to successful outcomes while bad decisions may lead to dire situations for an organization.

It also provides a more effective and efficient use of manpower skills and knowledge.

A good human resource plan creates more satisfied and more developed employees and provides an effective equal employment opportunity.

Decision making and planning is the process of systematically forecasting human resource requirements of an organization such as skills, salaries, hiring needs, layoffs, and other human resources concerns.

It also involves finding ways and means to reduce the number of employees if a surplus is projected. If there is a projected shortfall of skilled personnel because of the acquisition of new equipment or changes in business processes, then the human resource plan should be able to attract prospective employees from outside of the organization. According to Milkovich and Boudreau (1997), planning is time consuming, expensive, and uncertain.

In conclusion, making effective decisions can be difficult especially if sources of information are scarce or limited. However it is important to note that effective decision making is essential in managing human resources efficiently and
