Introduction:
As an ordinary athlete, almost every athlete has a dream of becoming the champion but stress makes athletes consider performance enhancing drugs to make sure they become a champion. Performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), are substances that are used to improve any form of activity performance in humans (USADA). PEDs are also referred to as anabolic steroids. In the recent years many professional athletes around the globe were found guilty of using performance enhancing drugs to have a greater advantage over other athletes in the heat of competition. These consequences can weaken the body and may even last life-long. Athletes need to know that using performance enhancing drugs, or PEDS, is illegal to use and is referred to as doping.
It’s important to inform and guide athletes on, the negative consequences that PEDs may have on their health. There are many short and long-term health effects of taking anabolic steroids.
