I believe in applying knowledge to innovate and challenge the obstacles that are holding back the advancement of science. As such, a lab-based research thesis will give me the opportunity to critically think and apply what I learned so far academically and professionally to find solutions to the unanswered questions that lie at the scientific frontline. This experience will also allow me to further develop skills that will help me advance and excel towards my career in clinical research and medicine. Specifically, my interest in Dr. Matthew Holahan’s lab stems from my genuine interest in researching about concussions. My interest in concussion research started while preparing a literature review for NEUR3200 and later a poster presentation…

These conclusions are what can start the next process, or even change an entire direction that a company is going. For example, a graph and report says far more than an Excel workbook filled with complex worksheets for nearly everyone. In fact, studies have shown that visuals lead to a significant statistical difference of up to a 1.5 times in comprehension (Kernbach, Eppler, Bresciani, 175). In meetings with co-workers, I realized that presentations were far more result orientated as opposed to process orientated.…

Another reason I chose computer science is because computers are shaping the direction our world takes and I want to play a part in that. The idea of writing a program that helps a physicist decode the secrets of the universe or a doctor discover a cure for a serious disease holds great appeal for me. Computer science is a continually growing field and with computers becoming involved in almost every aspect of our lives it should remain so for the foreseeable future. Thanks to computer chips imbedded in everything from basketballs and shoes to computer-controlled thermostats more and more computerized data is being produced daily and to manage the acquisition, storage and use of this data will require computer scientists [1]. While sending jobs overseas will slow some aspects of computer science-related job growth overall computer science jobs are expected to continue growth through 2020 [3], [4], [5].…
