I had always wanted to be part of Science Olympiad since I heard from my friends that it was being made in Yonkers High school. I couldn’t contain my excitement and could not wait until clubs started having their meetings. I decided I wanted to take part in Robotics, Historical Society, and in Science Olympiad. Science was my main interest ever since I was young, and I knew that whatever job I was doing in the future would involve science in some way, shape, or form. I really do want to join Science Olympiad and join a community of friends, partnerships, and teamwork.
ASTRONOMY
Space is the endless void between all the celestial bodies, the (former) final frontier for humans, and eventually the future of mankind. The study of the endless cosmos around our little planet ignited my love for science as a youth. When I was young, all the books that I ever read were related to space and I hope to one day become an astronomer when I become an adult. In this competition, a team of two will be required. One member of the team writes a description of an object and how to construct it. After this, the other member will look at the description and attempt to recreate the object that is being described. This activity seems extremely enjoyable to do with another person and would be quite fun. I would like to do this topic because I am capable of accurately creating objects using instructions that are given to me (thanks LEGO!).
