Science Fiction explores author’s imagination with today’s phenomenon and technology yet to come. Science Fiction also involves spaceships, aliens, time travel, space exploration, new worlds, and genetic manipulation. An example of a movie that is science fiction is Avatar, a movie that describes a greedy, industrialized technological society. Some examples that Avatar is science fiction are throughout the movie they used highly technically advanced ships to transport them to an unknown planet. That has to do with going into new worlds and time exploration. The humans then become the avatar's controller. Each avatar is genetically keyed to its respective human controller. While in the past, they can not touch or doing anything because they do not know at first that if they do anything it effects the present. This story is science fiction because of time travel that has to do with time exploration. Everyday people get to make trips back to the future not just a scientist, which is another example are the advanced technologies they used. A theme of the story is that small things can make a big difference. In the story, a time traveler accidentally stepped on a butterfly while they were in the past. Since he stepped on the butterfly in the past it caused huge changes in the present. This is similar to an idea called the butterfly effect. Another theme is trusting your instincts is vital. For example the dinosaur they see is very frightening. A normal person seeing the dinosaur would take a shot as fast as possible. Eckels wouldn't move and and had a rifle in his hands. Then he ran away from the trouble that he got himself into. This shows the readers trusting your instincts is vital when you are doing something …show more content…
Throughout the story different characters ask the computer the same questions, how the threat to human existence posed by the heat death of the universe can be averted. The question was "How can the net amount of entropy of the universe be massively decreased?" At the end the universe approaches the state of heat death, the God like descendant said let there be light and there was light. One example on how the story is science fiction is that the computer started out on earth and was big. Later throughout the story the computer got smaller physically and the rest of the computer was in hyperspace. One theme is if you wait long enough, everything could be answered. In the story they asked a question for so long and never gave up. Eventually their question was answered and they didn't give up. Another theme is, patience is the key to understanding. Even though they didn't get an answer they didn't get frustrated or give up. They were patient knowing the answer would soon come to
