Science Fair Summary Plants need water in order to perform photosynthesis which allows the plant to grow. There are three main ingredients that is needed to make glucose, a plant's food. To begin, water is one of the three main ingredients for photosynthesis, which is how a plant makes their food. “Carbon dioxide reacts to the presence of light to produce glucose”. Sunlight is the second of three ingredients needed for photosynthesis. The plant uses the energy from the sun to pull out hydrogen from the water. Soil is the third ingredient needed to produce glucose, without it, the plant has nowhere to spread its roots and grow. In addition, without water, soil, sunlight, photosynthesis is impossible and the plant will not grow. Without

The procedure for Lab 5 contained four parts. For Part A, a clean, dry 100 mL beaker was obtained and filled with 60 mL of distilled water. Next, the beaker was placed on a ring stand with a thermometer attached to the ring stand to record the temperature of the water. After the thermometer had been in the water for two minutes, the temperature was recorded. Following the recording of the temperature, a 10 mL pipet and a bulb was used to pipet 10.00 mL of distilled water into a clean, dry, pre-weighted 50 mL beaker.…

Plants change the sunlight's energy into chemical energy by the process of photosynthesis. Pigments in the plants called chlorophyll, absorb photons from the sun. Glucose is the main source nutrition in plants. Two reactions happen in the Photosynthesis that are the light reactions, also known as light dependent reactions, and dark reactions, also known as light independent reactions. The dark reactions are sometimes called the Calvin cycle, C3 Cycle, or Carbon Fixation.…

Methods: To start this experiment place four seeds in four separate petri dishes with a damp paper towel. Once the seed germinates and the plant has begun to sprout, move the seeds to four separate pots, and add soil. Once the plants have begun to sprout take the measurement of each plant and record your data for day zero. Next, take three glass containers of greatly varying volumes (41,4185cm3, 2,250cm3, and 602cm3 were used). Before the plants are placed underneath these containers, give 15ml of water to each plant.…

The article “ When Did Photosynthesis Emerge on Earth?” was written by the principal investigator of the Ames Research Center team of the NASA Astrobiology Institute, David Des Marais. His experience has led him to publish more than 160 technical articles and chapters on many research topics such as the biogeochemical carbon cycle and the early evolution of the Earth and its biosphere. In this particular article, Des Marais establishes that life dates back to 3800 years ago and that not only its great antiquity easily illustrates how life can arise on a habitable planet, but also how it can definitely be a sign of the challenges that involves becoming familiar with our predecessors. In order to provide an accurate time of evolutionary innovations and its environmental context, the author sustains that geological records and biological information complement each other as a key-lock. “The geologic record offers the absolute timing of evolutionary innovations and their environmental context, while the living biochemical record can reveal the sequence of development of key pathways and biomolecules.”…

Without plants the world would be very different. Before going through photosynthesis, plants take in carbon dioxide, and when they are done with photosynthesis, they release oxygen. Some plants are used in salads or in foods. Some plants have a lots of vines with them while others produce food underneath the ground. When trees are chopped down, they can be made into wood for fireplaces, or trees can be made into paper.…

Introduction Photosynthesis is the process in which light energy is converted into chemical energy in plants and other organisms (Reece, 2011). Photosynthesis is a redox reaction where carbon dioxide is reduced to sugar (glucose) and water is oxidized to oxygen (Reece, 2011). The reaction that occurs during photosynthesis is shown through the empirical equation CO2 + H2O → (CH2O)N + O2 (Stegenga, 2015). Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplasts of plant cells, specifically within the thylakoid and the stroma (Stegenga, 2015).…

Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is the physico-chemical process by way of which plants, algae and photosynthetic bacteria consume light energy to drive the synthesis of organic compounds. In plants, algae and certain forms of bacteria, the photosynthetic process yields, the release of molecular oxygen and the elimination of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere that is used to produce carbohydrates (oxygenic photosynthesis). Further forms of bacteria use light energy to generate organic compounds however do not yield oxygen (anoxygenic photosynthesis). The major difference is the presence and absence of oxygen in both type of photosynthesis.…

Carbon dioxide is emitted through many means, both naturally and by different human activities. Plants play a crucial role in limiting the abundance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In general, photosynthesis can be explained by the following formula: 6CO2 + 6H20 + ATP → C6H1206 + 602. Using the carbon dioxide present in their environment, water from their roots, and energy from sunlight, a plant is able to continue to grow and conduct cellular respiration through this process. But how exactly is it able to accomplish this?…

The water flows through the xylem which is like a tube through the stem and leaves.…
