It was that time of year again - the science fair. Which means long periods of gluing, copying, writing, and sleepless nights. Well, have you ever procrastinated on something? I procrastinated on my science fair project, and here’s what happened: I got my science fair supplies late, so I ended up having to finish the project in one day at home! It was a challenge doing the experiment at home since I had three brothers always wanting to know what I was doing. I had to keep shooing them away. Everyone kept on coming in and out of the kitchen, which was irritating. Anyways, my science fair project had to do with the subject ice, so you could imagine how much time it would take. When I completed recording all my data, I realized later that day that I messed up completely. The way I did the experiment made it …show more content…
My brother and I quickly work on the board, the white glue covering and drying up on our hands. Finally, my project is complete! My mom drives me to school and I turn in my board to my science teacher. I eat the typical school breakfast and get on with my school day. I’m thinking, “What if I get a bad grade on this? This usually doesn’t happen to me, so what do I have to worry about? But if I don’t do well, I won’t hear the end of it from my mom and dad.” A few days later, it’s time to present. Students present their projects, and the teacher takes notes and grades them. Everyone claps and the student sits down. She is specifically looking for great projects to compete in the school science fair. This process drags on for what seems like forever, until it is finally my turn. I turn in my lab report and go about my presentation, pointing, explaining, and demonstrating the project. I’m met with a round of claps. I then take questions from everyone, including the teacher, and then I finally sit down. The next person goes and the boring process

I put the pieces aside, hoping they would harden so by the end I could put the pieces together. I went on with the recipe poaching my pear and helping my team members when I had down time waiting for my own dish. Time went by incredibly fast because it was already the last ten minutes of competition. I started to slightly panic when I checked on my sugar sculpture pieces, and they hadn’t hardened in enough time to even be made into a sculpture. Consequently, I had to throw the pieces away because there was nothing else I could do.…

The Common Core experiment Writing 122 Joe Spurgeon October 19, 2015 In 2001 the Federal government passed the no child left behind act. This law requires states to create rigorous standardized assessments, then pass at least 95 percent of all students to continue to receive federal subsidies. However, states are not required to meet the same standards, for example, a student in the state of Oregon who passes Oregon’s assessments, could fail the standards of Massachusetts. Thus this led to the creation of the Common Core State Standards in 2009 by the Council of Chief state school Officers and the National Governors Association.…

In designing our science fair project, many concepts and variables are to be considered. Our science fair project is experimenting on how rust forms so research and prior knowledge is required before we actually conduct the experiment. Having previous information on the topic allows us to be able to alter the variables accurately when we actually administer the procedure. For our project, we are exploring the idea of the formation of rust and how the lack of or extra variables could affect the chemical corrosion.…
