Science Fair Narrative Essay

Procrastination. That seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life. I have a habit of putting off just about anything until the last minute. It may be an assignment for school, something that I need to clean, getting my AR points, etc. Sometimes this leads to me rushing to complete the task hours (or minutes) before it is set to be done. My Science Fair project in 8th grade was no exception. It was the day of the Science Fair, and though my project itself was finished, my presentation board was not. I was sitting in my first class of the day when one of the Science Club directors came in. She asked if my friend and I had finished our boards. When we both shook our heads, she asked us to come with her. She brought us to the storage room in the …show more content…

Luckily, I had already finished all of my slides, so I didn’t have to worry about getting those done. I opened my slideshow and set it to print. I heard the printer come to life and begin printing my slides. I walked over and picked them up, as did my friend. When both of ours were done, we put them next to each of our boards. We also retrieved a bottle of glue and a pair of scissors from the cabinet. We made our way back down the hall and hurried back to our boards. I began pairing and glueing the construction paper to my slides. When I reached the end, I realized that I was three construction pages short. I sighed.
“I have to go back and get more of this paper.” I said as I walked towards the door. I looked at the clock. I had only 2.5 more hours until Science Fair began. I walked briskly to and from the classroom, trying to be as quick as I could. I resumed working on my board as soon as I had returned. My friend and I were racing the clock as we tried to finish our boards. I hoped that we wouldn’t be too

Causes can range anywhere from fear of failure to excessive perfectionism. As for treatments, well, if there was a pre-existing cure, I wouldn’t be writing this essay at 2 am. I am not the only one plagued by this habit. Oh no. In fact, studies show that 20% of Americans live with the same condition as I. As procrastinators, we intentionally look for ways out of doing dubious tasks.…

I find this spot on. "I want time to do my work neatly". I do not like to be rushed into finishing a project or assignment. If I know I have a deadline, I start working on it immediately to avoid turning it in late. For example, I see that we have an assignment for school due on Thursday.…

The slides were being presented by the president of the company, Gary Morris. I was a little intimidated at first, because the entire Clabber Girl (Terre Haute) company was going to see my work right out the door. Many thoughts were going through my head as I was changing the slides, because they were not easy changes. I thought they were going to be too small, the president wasn’t going to like them or they…

Two dozen 18 year olds sat inside a warm smelly classroom at Marshall High School. Graduation was a month away and everyone, including the teachers were ready to get out of this hell hole of a school. It was that point of the year where it wasn’t warm enough to turn the AC and not cold enough to have the heat on. Everyone in the building was sweating buckets. Walking down the halls, one could definitely tell who was wearing deodorant and who was not.…

Another big problem that makes me procrastinate a lot is when I tell myself I'm going to do it later. When i tell myself this I usually don't do anything until the very last possible minuit to do it which makes me do a poor-quality job. I do not do this very often but when I do I will know that I have to turn it into "have too's" because if i don't do it as soon as I can, I usually don’t do it until the last minute. Having no vague goals also helps me because having vague goals will only slow me down and confuse me, not getting me anywhere. I don’t think I have any vague goals because nothing seems simple, and nothing is…
