Is too much acid good for our bodies or our teeth? The experiment that is being tested for my science fair experiment is, testing how baking soda can detect whether there is acid in the specific sour candy or not. This science fair experiment is important because it can test the amount of acid is in certain types of candy. It is not good for our bodies to have too much acid. When someone has too much candy with tons of acid, you can get what is called Acidosis which is when too much acid is build up and your kidneys can't get rid of it.(Acidosis) 1st body paragraph- The scientist who discovered acid is Albert Hofmann. Acid is a The scientist who first discovered the pH scale was “Danish biochemist Soren Peter Lauritz Sorensen. He

The topic I chose for my science fair project is: Which Saxophone Reeds are the Loudest? I chose this project because my cousin did this project a couple years ago and it inspired me to try for myself. I did not ever hear his final result about which reeds ended up being the loudest. I did hear some of the different materials and strengths of the reeds that he used and I chose more strengths of reeds than he did. There are three important facts about reeds.…

    4. Define the term pH. What is the H+ concentration of a solution with a pH of 1? What is the H+ concentration of a solution with a pH of 10? Of these two solutions, which of these solutions is more acidic? What is the difference in acidity between the two solutions? pH is defined as the negative log of the hydronium concentration (often stated as the concentration of hydrogen): pH=-log⁡([〖H_3 O〗^+ ]) or pH=-log⁡([H^+…

Within methods of chemistry, the most common and obvious way to find the PH of a substance is to use an acid-base indicator in order to determine the pH level by comparing the indicators color to what pH it represents. An example of this is universal indicator (a mixture of a variety of other indicators) that changes a wide variety of colors depending on the pH it is subject to. This colorizing effect is somewhat like a color dye for a molecule, that changes color when it detects a specific threshold is crossed in terms of the pH of the substance, thus allowing an approximate pH to be determined. This color change is due to the molecules present in acid-base indicators responding to the changes in the overall concentration of the hydrogen…

Ph. is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration of hydrogen ions have a low pH and solutions with low concentrations of H+ ions have a high ph. Orange juice and coke have a low pH, but bleach and oven cleaner have a high pH ("What is pH"). Rainwater…

Others have tested this experiment, but they put a weight such as pennies, marbles, etc. What I am planning to do is make a very lightweight car that can travel a longer distance. The energy that the balloon will force out is called kinetic energy.…

On today’s Mythbusters episode they were testing if a bug were to hit you at high speeds on a motorcycle could it kill you before you even hit the ground. The cast members that were on this experiment were Tory Belleci, Grant Imahara, and Jessi Combs. They first started by going to see a physician Dr. Billy Trolan to ask if there was any way or pressure points on the body where an insect could hit and actually killed you before you hit the ground. They were then shown a chart and it showed them how much pressure it takes for something to kill a person instantly.…

The goal of this experiment was to use chemistry to analyze an unknown compound and through testing its physical and chemical properties determine what unknown compound that was found in a landfill. This would benefit the Environmental Protection Agency because once they know what the substance was they could determine the best way to remove it from the landfill and if there were any potential safety hazards to beware of while handling the substance. This would prevent any accidents that may harm the people handling the compound and the people that live around the landfill. The other goal was to discuss the environment impact and cost of synthesizing the unknown compound.…

The line graph demonstrates the acid level in mouth when three different kinds of sweets are eaten, Cane sugar, fruit sugar, or honey. When the acid level signified by (ph) becomes over 5.5 tooth decay is unlikely to happen, yet when the (ph level) is less than 5.5, the tooth is in risk of decay. In the beginning, when any of the three sweets is eaten, the PH level starts with 7. Noticeably, cane sugar is the most likely to cause tooth decay, where it declines to the lowest level 3.5 after 5 minutes from eating this sugar, and then increases steadily to reach 4.5 Ph level at the 15 minutes, and then continues its increase to cross the 5.5 after about 30 minutes.…
