Science from Mary Shelley's age and today are seen in two different lights because of the knowledge known about it at the time. During Shelley’s time period science was still foreign to the average individual, so it could almost be seen as mythical and scary. While in today's modern times, science is accepted and celebrated. In Frankenstein science is shown more as an individual pursuit and what scientist did was in secret and they were secluded from their peers. In the Martian it shows that modern day science is seen more as a collaborative pursuit with people working as a team. This shows the large contrast in the idea of science within the public view.

Which I agree with this statement because movies have shown this stereotype even in modern day portrayals of scientist.
Another says that because of fear of the monster, Frankenstein rejects his creation almost his child, which shows that science and its creations were still feared at the time.
A author says that Shelley sees the that if uncontrolled science is dangerous, she shows this fear through Frankenstein being driven by science to create this monster and it is science that ultimately ends Victor Frankenstein. I agree with this idea that unknown science during this time was strongly feared because it was known if the outcome could be controlled.
