Fat, ugly, four eyes, these words no longer only uttered as a student walks down the crowded halls, but now are appearing on social media. These students feel alone, and wonders what 's next. They are not alone, many students attending all levels of schools face this problem everyday. Research suggests schools should develop anti-bullying programs because of bullying is on the rise, students need to learn about cyberbullying, and the consequences of being bullied are dire. Bullying is a form of abuse from one student to another that is on the rise. “Bullying is a behavior that includes a whole range of actions that cause physical or emotional pain, from spreading rumors, to intentional exclusion, to physical abuse (Wolfson, 2016). Bullying is not something new it has been around for years and years. According to John Lash, who graduated from with a masters in Conflict Management from Kennesaw State University. “Most adults can probably remember being bullied in school, and there is a tendency to think of it as a rite of passage or simply as a part of life that kids have to get used to (Lash, 2011)”. Just because it has been around for years does not mean it’s a rite of passage that students need to deal with. Students should feel safe in school and not be frightened to be there.
