Schools Should Not Be Taught In Schools

To be upfront and honest in a perfect world where parents had and took the time to “properly” educate their own children about sex I would say that it should not be taught in schools or mandated by government. Alright now with that out of the way, I want to say that I am fully aware that for varying reasons not every child will receive a “proper” sexual education from their own parents. Additionally, some teenagers are not going to want to learn about sex from their parents because it makes them uncomfortable.

I believe that getting the child to be comfortable with method in which they receive the information and education. The standardized health education classes that are taught in schools should cover how a child is conceived and STDs. How STDs can be prevented, and most importantly how they are transmitted to dispel any urban myths. This information should be covered so that at least the understanding that sex can not only lead to unplanned pregnancies, but also be dangerous and lead to lifelong health complications. Once the bare minimum of sex education has been given you have to reach the students on a medium that they feel comfortable with.

Educators should host anonymous Q&A sessions with their students to allow the child to ask the questions they don’t feel comfortable asking in person or aloud in front of their peers. Homework is to ask/submit questions via email, or through an anonymous messenger service that the school hosts, to be addressed the next day during class. The teacher screens the questions for the ones that are going to be ridiculous, but also prepares the answers for the next class with credible resources so the student can further investigate the topic on their

Sex Education in Public Schools: Why Comprehensive is the Best Option Throughout the years of education for school-aged children, sex education is a necessary but controversial topic, and one opinion looms over educators’ heads: should comprehensive sex education be taught over abstinence-only education? A little insight of what each of those means should be given before anyone can form a logical opinion. Since the beginning of education, sexual health in particular, abstinence-only methods of learning have been worn out majorly. This type of knowledge consists of only certain and tergiversating ideologies that may give off a tactic to scare teens into not engaging in sexual activity, or withhold important facts about safely engaging in sexual…

Every student has to go through sex education in schools as a way to inform student on safety and STD prevention. This is amazing but the key to safe sex is consent which is not taught in a majority of schools. According to a survey sent out by Planned Parenthood, “Less than a third of people were taught anything at all related to consent, sexual assault, or healthy relationships in middle or high school.” This lack of education is what is causing young people to be unprepared when the time comes to say no or ask for consent. They are not begin taught that no means no in all circumstances.…

Sex is going to happen among public school students no matter what. According to “Teen Sexuality and Pregnancy,” 62 percent of high school seniors in the United States have had sex. The argument over whether to teach Abstinence-only or Comprehensive Sex education is ongoing and yet unnecessary. There is absolutely no possible way to insure that every single public school student refrains from having sex until marriage.…

Examining the pro’s and con’s of a sexual intercourse, learning preventative methods, and shaking the uncomfortable stigma of sex is dirty is key in educating our youth. Abortion is a much broader issue than the moral conventions. Correct non-biased, non-religious sexual education in schools would help lower the rate of unsupported pregnancies, abortions, and poverty as a whole. This is turn will present less crime and maybe a better generation raised in loving and committed…

The failure of the abstinence-only education courses is not providing students throughout the United States with sufficient sexual education to prevent this nation’s youth from being unprotected in their own sexual lives. Abstinence-only classes teach students that they should keep away from sexual encounters until they are married but it is clear that teenagers are having sexual intercourse anyway and abstinence-only education is not teaching them the content to protect themselves. Out of all fifty states in the United States only twenty states mandate sexual education to be taught in schools. An alternative to abstinence-only education is one that provides students with medically accurate information about multiple forms of STD’s and pregnancy…

Every student’s got that teacher that they just absolutely hate. The one who “can’t teach.” The one who should have retired years ago, who can’t control a class, or who is just a plain jerk. It seems like they’re not going anywhere anytime soon, even though they don’t allow students to be as productive as they are capable of. What about that old unfair janitor who gives out pointless detentions like they’re daily homework assignments?…

Sex education has been a notorious failure in the education system. Such programs fail because they teach teenagers to be judges of their own sexual behavior—not society, not their authoritarian parents, and certainly not the church. Sex education programs approach sex from a “neutral” viewpoint by teaching students to postpone sex until they are more mature, but encourages them to use proper protection if they are unable or unwilling to wait. From this “neutral” viewpoint, there is no good explanation for why students should not have sex when the technology to prevent or terminate diseases and pregnancies is readily available. Sex appears to be just another sport activity where only the proper gear is needed to stay safe.…

Many teenagers in high school are uneducated in sex and its harsh consequences. As a former high school student, I have witnessed many of my classmates contract sexually transmitted diseases and take on the role of motherhood much too early. I oppose the fact that many high school students will be faced with a dire situation because they are uneducated, they are underestimated, and they are unprepared. Therefore, sex education classes should become part of the mandatory curricula at all public high schools in Texas.…

Comprehensive sexual education courses can be pushed by parents, voters, and even older students who themselves struggled when they were not taught what they needed to know about sexuality. If more people become active in advocating the positives of comprehensive sexual education to the public, then teenagers would become able to think for themselves about what they can do to make sure that they protect themselves from disease and early parenthood. The benefits of a well-informed young adult are definitely worth any worries that someone might have. After all, the better informed anyone is about a topic, the better off they are in the future, and that includes teenagers with the topic of…

Sexual Education has been encouraged to be a part of public school education since the late 1800’s. It is a program that is supposed to help young adolescents understand their body, promote abstinence, types of contraception, the risks of engaging in sexual activities, and how to prevent diseases or pregnancy. However, many parents fight this program because of their beliefs that teens should stay abstinent till marriage, and learning about sex will increase their urge to have sex. Depending on what the state requires to be taught and what a school district wants, a student will either receive one of the two styles of sexual education. The two styles are comprehensive and abstinence only.…
