School Year Round School Research Paper

Have you ever walked into school on the first day of the year, or back from a long break, and realized you don’t remember anything you learned? Many students, myself included, experience this problem often. Most teenagers spend their breaks from school watching television, playing video games, and doing pretty much anything that isn’t studying or school related, causing them to forget most of what they learned at school. One solution to this problem would be to have students attend school year-round with various, shorter breaks throughout the year. Students should attend school year round because they could be taught more information, their grades could improve, and it keeps them on a routine.

Being on a solid routine prevents students from going to sleep at odd hours, which could affect their attentiveness and grades. For example, my brother usually goes to sleep at an early hour in the morning. Then he has to get up and get ready for school at an equally early time. This causes him to be sleepy and inattentive during class, which affects his grades. Being on a routine could prevent this and, in turn, make students healthier. Many students assume that going to school all year means they don’t get breaks or time off. This is not the case, if anything there would be more breaks, they would only be shorter than the ones we are used to. With a 1 to 2 week break at certain intervals throughout the school year, students would be able to mostly stay on their routine.
To conclude, most students really dislike going to school, however, have them go to school year-round could prove to be beneficial. Even though they would be required to go all year, they would still be given breaks between semesters or at the turn of the seasons. This could allow students the opportunity to do things like learn more and to improve their grades. Constant schooling and studying sounds extremely unappealing to pretty much any student, but I believe that the benefits could outweigh

One reason that I am against year round schools is it would cost a lot more money than a traditional school. One example of this is in the summer months of school, the school would have to pay for the AC unit to run. If the school didn't have an AC, then they would have to pay for the unit to be put in which can cost up to 25 million dollars in an average school. Another money problem that the school can face is repairs to the building. In a traditional school, they have three months to make repairs to the building, but in a year round school, they have to pay for more workers to finish what they need them to do in one month.…

The Benefits Year-Round Schooling Since the beginning of time, teaching and learning has been a detrimental part of what makes us able to innovate and experience the world around us. A form of schooling introduced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was a year round school system (Pedersen, "The History of School and Summer Vacation"). This system allowed for more days within the learning period and allotted for students to get more out of their education. Research from all the way back to a hundred years ago has shown that students tend to lose information and their footing during a traditional summer vacation (Fairchild, "Why and how communities should focus on summer learning."). The current system most public schools within the…

Children benefit from year round school because they are not in a hurry to cram everything they need to know for that year in just short nine to ten months. Teachers can slow their speed and actually teach students everything they need to know not just what they need for a test, which seems to be regular in many schools. Students will not forget the education that was taught, for they will not have summer vacation time to forget about school and what they learned from it. Cooper had done experiments on children loosing education while on summer break and his results are stunning, and cooper commented that “most students lose about two months of grade level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months”…
