The standard way of thinking when it comes to the topic of educational goals is to make the children able to function and be a working part in society. How we get children to reach that broad, overall goal is where people’s views begin to differ. These views have become very polar judgements because our newest generations have either been born at a time when technology first started to advance or right in the middle of this new technological era. This old school versus new school dispute has brought its way into the educational system and has made an ongoing debate; should educational institutions use tablets or textbooks to make children able to function and be a part in society? The mobile educational market is seen as the next, big technology leap. Investors from FCC, Federal Communications Commission, predict the need for tablets/e-books will be worth $70 billion globally by 2020. The percent of classrooms with Wi-Fi access has grown by 47% in just four years. Everyone in our society seems ready and enthused to make this technological leap so why is there a debate? The kids in school right now using the pencil and paper method are going to grow up and be the next doctors, lawyers, salesmen who are immersed in a world of technology with no proper technological experience. Allowing for schools to involve technology into a daily learning basis will not only ensure a great future from them, but for anyone that follows. I believe and the studies show, that tablets have begun a new beginning for how we teach the generation of millennials and the many generations
