At that point it’s up to the parents. The parents have to show some sort of discipline whether their child is the bully or the victim. In the article “Foiling a bully,” Jon Marshall writes that, “taking bullying seriously is the first step” (4). This proves that parents are ignorant of the actions that are being conducted. This could also show to the victims that they are truly not in a safe enough place to talk and express the suffering they are getting. The lack of interaction with the kids also always them to be exposed to extensive amounts of violent video games. Some children played up to “13 hours of games play per week” (10). That is a ridiculous amount of game play. The fact being that a majority of it is very violent content within the games. In cases such as Columbine High School, where “boys with ready access to guns,” must be the parents fault of allowing such behavior (Trend 7). A parent who allows their children to easy access to guns, shouldn’t be allowed to either be a parent or a gun owner. Now for the victim’s parents, the best idea would be to sit down and talk to your kids. Explain to them that they need to stick up for themselves and talk, if not to a teacher, to the parent and explain the issues that they are facing. Then explaining to them that “there’s safety in number,” and encourage them to make friends (Marshall 4). AS for schools, “Violence Prevention Act of 2000,” do have the ability to take control of a situation and help change the way the school is being run. The schools do have ways to take over a situation they just got to allow themselves to. As times change and violence increases in school, school shooting are going to be sounding a lot more common all across America, but with the lack of schools not putting in effort and parents failing to get involved, making our solution seems to get a narrow. It’s up to everyone who has a student who is a bully or a victim to help to put an end on the violence that can be caused. At a young age, children are very unaware of the surroundings and if they get exposed
