School uniforms are a problem because many people say it violates student rights and individuality, but “studies” have shown that it improves school problems. One of the cons would be that it violates students’ rights, stifles creativity and individuality and parents don’t want their children wearing clothes that they are forced to wear. They prefer that children are allowed to express themselves with their clothes. Another con is there is no accurate research about whether school uniforms improves school problems because when schools change to a school uniforms they also change the curriculum and rules and the research is based on belief, most of the time, so before changing to a school uniforms there should be more scientific research taken. School uniforms are also a disadvantage to families with low income and its an unfair money burden to tax paying families. Lastly, it causes complication with laws and rules because if policies are not made correctly, it causes a big deal with state and besides, school uniforms violate rights to express oneself which is the first amendment. Since the 1980’s school uniforms is a topic that has been debated a lot. when schools and districts adapt or create a school uniform policy they have to look at the history, costs, statistics, court rulings and scientifically proven changes. Some of the pros of wearing school uniforms is it creates a safer school environment, higher academic grades, decreases discipline, and diminishes socio-economic barriers. A few cons of wearing school uniforms is it violates students rights, the policies can sometimes interfere with the government laws and rules and some of research is not 100% accurate. A compromise that could be made is having a dress code instead of a school uniforms or getting more accurate data and doing a fundraiser to help the pay some of the uniforms. In my opinion school uniforms are more of a bad thing than a good thing because it violates the first amendment, which is the right to express yourself, and students need to express themselves. Also, there is no accurate research so until there is more scientific research done my thought on school uniforms is they are clothes that students are forced to wear for school and they violate many rights, so in other words I do not think students should wear school

Former President Dwight Eisenhower once said: “When you put on a uniform, there are certain inhibitions that you accept.” Although what Eisenhower meant was in a military environment, the idea behind the quote should be carefully considered in a school setting enforcing a mandatory uniform policy. School uniforms shouldn’t be a part of public schools since they restrict students from expressing themselves while making them feel uncomfortable; and because they are expensive, uniforms aren’t always accessible to everyone. School is a place where most students get express themselves, but school uniforms are stopping this freedom of expression for students.…
