School uniforms are everywhere around the world. My cousin Sam wears a uniform, all my friends there wear uniforms, and so did my parents. When I asked them if school uniforms were any good, I was shocked at my findings. Many people don’t seem to approve of school uniforms, but surprisingly, my parents seemed to encourage uniforms. “They were a godsend for a busy senior like I was. I would wake up, throw on my school uniform and head off to school.” my father explained. He told me that everything people say about school uniforms are incorrect. They are actually cheaper than clothes chosen by students, and still allow individuality. In fact, they help schools stop bullies, gangs, and strangers from coming into the school. Most students have probably pondered this at least once in their life, thinking that school uniforms would sabotage your sense of individuality. However, it is not only your clothes that make you yourself; it is your character and personality. The Daily Mail UK wrote that “More than half of young women are bullied at school because of how they look, according to a report published today.” School uniforms could stop all of this bullying . Bullying takes many lives every year, and school uniforms could save many students and single out strangers that could be potentially dangerous from entering the school. The Week has published an article that shows, “About 80 percent of Americans deal with joblessness, near poverty, or reliance on welfare at some point in their lives, according to a new report by the Associated Press.” With so much poverty, how will families already struggling to make ends meet purchase school uniforms? My mother explained to me that she had two older siblings who would pass down their uniforms to her. Even better, their family with four children had never purchased a single school uniform.
