The number of school shootings are increasing everyday. Now, it’s estimated that at least on school shooting will take place every week. New York Times posted a statement stating, “In an analysis of 235 mass killings, many of which were carried out with firearms, 22 percent of the perpetrators could be considered mentally ill.” (Bank, Justin) Mental health does play a major role inn shooting because of the lack of realizing the health issues and gun control. For mental health issues, they’ve skyrocketed over a few decades, along with school shootings. Pointing to the signs that the shootings are mainly caused by mental health issues. Bullying can cause this rampage of mental illness too, with it increasing by generations. But, most people don’t realize that the increase of social media can increase the illness. Movies such as Natural Born Killers, have prompted shooters such as Eric Harris (Columbine shooter). In fact, most shooters leave their plans on social media nowadays. So, with social media increasing along with mental illnesses, there’s obviously going to be more shootings if we can’t find a solution. …show more content…
As said, there are three types of shooters: the traumatized shooter, the psychopathic shooter, and the psychotic shooter.
